Summary: Features like unit of measure conversions and bill of material revisions give it just enough flexibility to be useful to smaller manufacturing companies. Even though this is excellent small business accounting software, in my opinion since it isn’t designed to handle WIP, it’s a stretch to call it manufacturing software. (The Manufacturing and Distribution versions of Sage 50 have the exact same features.) But then again, I don’t know of any true manufacturing software at this price. If you need real manufacturing features, you should check out Sage 50 Quantum - Manufacturing Edition which allows you to manage raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
Sage 50 Manufacturing Accounting (formerly Peachtree) was eliminated from the Sage 50 product lineup with the release of version 2015. Manufacturing users upgrading to the current version will be moved up to Sage 50 Quantum.
