One of the new features in version 2014 of Sage 50 that I have really come to appreciate is the ability to set a pop-up reminder message for any customer. The message pops up on quotes, proposals, sales orders, invoices, or credit memos. Since you can set up a different message for each customer it’s useful in many situations, such as:
- Reminder to always get a PO from a customer who requires them
- List of people authorized to place orders
- Reminder to use a credit card the customer has left on file so you don’t send them an invoice and then wonder why they didn’t pay it (of course this is a purely hypothetical example, not something I have ever done)
- C.O.D. notice
- Special requirements for a customer
Setting up the pop-up message is easy. Select the customer in the Maintain Customers/Prospects window. Go to the Payment & Credit. Under Terms and Credit select Customize terms for this customer from the drop-down list. A list of terms and credit options will appear. Set Credit Status to Always Notify. A box will appear that you can type your reminder message into. Of course, don’t forget to save your changes when you are done. Now, any time you enter this customer’s ID on a new quote, proposal, sales order, invoice, or credit memo; or when you print, email, or save changes to one of those transactions, your message will appear.
