If you have a report open in Sage 50 and a transaction that affects that report is entered or changed, your report will normally refresh when you click back onto it. But did you know you can stop reports from automatically refreshing? Just go to the Options menu and choose Global. Select the General tab. Clear the checkbox next to Update reports when I set focus to them. Click OK to save your change.

Normally you want to make sure your report reflects the most recent data. So why would you not want a report to update automatically? I can think of two good reasons. First, if you’re working with a large report that takes a long time to process, you would most likely prefer to choose when it updates. The second reason is that, when a report updates, you are taken back to the top of the report. Having to repeatedly find your place in a report can be frustrating. Have you ever been working through your aged receivables report, opening past due invoices off the report to email them to customers? Each time you end up back at the beginning of the report and have to find your place again. Turning off Update reports when I set focus to them means you can come back to the report and pick up exactly where you left off.

Settings in the Global Options window will affect all companies but only at this computer. So you can change these settings at any time without affecting other users.
